MIAMI, FL – Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011 – As part of BB&T Bank’s third annual Lighthouse Project, bank employees are volunteering during the month of June at Community Partnership for Homeless’ Chapman Center, 550 North Miami Ave., Miami, FL 33136.
Volunteers will paint dormitories, replace lockers and bed linens, and help anywhere else as needed for an in-kind value of $10,000. BB&T Bank will send out more than 100 employees during the month of June until the work at the Chapman Center is done.
“One of my favorite parts of our annual Lighthouse Project is that it exposes our employees to fantastic organizations that help make our communities better places to live, work, and grow,” said Rob Bowlby, BB&T Bank’s city executive for Miami-Dade County, Fla. “Our team chose CPH because our work there will immediately and directly benefit the people in our community who need it the most. I suspect that many of our employees will continue to support CPH long after the Lighthouse Project is completed.”
BB&T employees have donated nearly 100,000 hours to help improve the lives of more than 3 million people in 25 states through the Lighthouse Project. Employees overwhelmingly voted to bring back the initiative this year. For more information about the Lighthouse Project, go to www.bbt.com/bbt/lighthouseproject.
