Chapman Partnership raised more than $125,000 at its annual RunWild 5K run/walk on Feb. 9, 2013, at Zoo Miami to benefit programs for the homeless.
“Chapman Partnership would not be able to do the important work it does if it were not for the support of our community, both individuals and businesses,” Trish Bell, chairman of the board, said. “It warms my heart to know that 2,100 people chose to participate in our annual RunWild 5K and in the process helped us move another step closer to eradicating homelessness in Miami-Dade County.”
The overall winner for the men’s category was Evan DeHart, 27, at 16:11 minutes. Corey Walton, 26, was the overall winner in the women’s category at 21:08 minutes. Awards were presented to the top three finishers in each age category. Tri-County Health & Wellness awarded a four-night stay at a hotel of the winner’s choice for the overall top male and female.
In a city that offers a plethora of vistas for race events, Zoo Miami opened its doors to more than 2,100 participants, a 40 percent increase from last year’s race. At the start line cheerleaders from the Miami HEAT and Miami Dolphins primed the crowd of runners. In step were Zoo Miami communications director Ron Magill and Chapman Partnership board member, Chairman Trish Belland Miami-Dade Commissioner Sally Heyman.
