MIAMI, FL – Wednesday, December 19th, 2012 – Holiday joy will arrive to more than 250 children living at Chapman Partnership’s two assistance centers for the homeless in December, when “elves” will distribute gifts at parties sponsored by Assurant.
“Project Elf” will kick off at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at the Homestead Center, where Assurant volunteers will deliver gifts for 100 children. Chapman staff will deliver gifts at a later date for the 150 children living at the North Center in downtown Miami.
“This is the fourth year that Assurant employee volunteers will get to see a smile on the faces of hundreds of children whose lives need extra cheer,” said Sean-Terri Pottinger of the Employee Activities Committee at Assurant.
Assurant’s holiday party includes delivery of a Christmas tree for children to decorate, holiday music, and refreshments for the children and their parents. Assurant volunteers are familiar faces at the Homestead Center, preparing and serving lunch every other month throughout the year. Assurant employees also coordinate a monthly collection of items such as clothing and toys to donate to Chapman Partnership.
