MIAMI, FL – Monday, May 23rd, 2011 – Community Partnership for Homeless (CPH) recognized six of South Florida’s most accomplished and committed philanthropists at the 2nd Annual Take a Walk in Her Shoes vintage fashion show Thursday, May 19, 2011, at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables.
Brenda Nestor Castellano, Connie Russell, Electra Spillis, Jeanie Hernandez, Nicole Willson Lozano and Tracy Wilson Mourning were honored by the CPH Womenade Miami committee, which produced the event to benefit homeless women who are getting back on their feet.
“These women truly exemplify the charitable values that we all strive to emulate,” said event co-chair Bronwyn Miller, who announced the awards with co-chair Irene Korge.
Keynote speaker was a former CPH resident, whose last name is being withheld. Chantelle gave an emotional testimony of how her faith and CPH gave her a second chance in life when she found herself homeless and jobless after a horrific car accident that left her jaws wired shut.
“Without the incredible support that I was able to receive from CPH, I would not be where I am today,” Chantelle said.
Take a Walk in Her Shoes raised close to $100,000 in much-needed funds for CPH’s Womenade and awareness about the plight of the homeless.
“The outpouring of support at this very successful event fills my heart with hope for our community,” said Dan Vincent, CPH executive director. “Funds raised will be used to continue helping the women and children who reside at our CPH centers get back on their feet and eventually be successful members of our community.”
Models strutted the runway wearing exquisite vintage fashions presented by C. Madeleine’s. Nationally recognized stylist Danny Santiago directed the show and hair and makeup artists from RikRak Salon Boutique & Bar provided the finishes. Shannon Hori, CBS-4’s Emmy award-winning news anchor, served as the fashion show and program emcee.
Additional event sponsors included Trish & Dan Bell, Irene & Chris Korge, Comcast, Nancy Davis, Ryder Charitable Foundation, Coral Gables Trust, Wragg & Casas Public Relations, Belle Fleur, Daisy Casuso, Ellen Schebor, Happy Valet Dry Cleaners, iHeart Promo, Jo Malone of Neiman Marcus Coral Gables, Miami Magazine, Peace Love World, Pete Diaz, Sprinkles Magazine, USA Boutique Company, Beighley, Myrick, & Udell Law Firm (Program Sponsor), Ceinwen Lloyd and The Biltmore Hotel (raffle donors).
